Patterson Mountain camping trip

Went camping up on Patterson Mountain last night. We went up to see how the snow line was looking, and hopefully get some runs in on one of our favorite trails but it looks like we got a couple weeks til the snow will melt enough. We quickly decided on a different camp site and spent he weekend hitting another awesome trail on the other side of the mtn, and breaking a buddy in to mountain biking in the NW.
Chris, Kenny, John, Basil and I had a great time relaxin, eatin some bomb camp food and riding Hardesty for the first time this year. With quite a few down trees, and our saw left at home we spent a little more time than anticipated climbing over debris but still had a blast and got some great pics over the last couple days. Enjoy!
Thanks for the great time guys, lets do it again soon!

Its on!

Racing season has begun! The first round of the NWcup and the Pro GRT series was in Port Angeles, WA a few weeks ago. The Roots Racing team (Jack Hill and Rhys Ewing) along with the support/media gang (Tyson Copeland, Colin McCarthy and myself) cruised on up to try out the new bikes. The weekend was amazing, as expected, with Rhys missing the podium by 1 place and great times all around! Tyson threw a couple great edits together from all the footage we got, so without further adew, here they are

And if that wasnt exciting enough, the first round of the UCI world cup DH series kicked off sunday in South Africa and marked a huge day for America! Aaron gwin slayed the course and came down nearly 7 seconds quicker than Steve Peat. With a few riders left, Minaar gave it his all and still came up .2 sec short. Mik even tore his bars off his bike with the raw power he was putting down, taking him out of the running. Aaron Gwin won the first world cup for america in 13 years (Myles Rockwell I think), while securing his first ever world cup win after only four years of mountain biking. Long story short, Aaron Gwin is absolutely nuts fast and now with the support of one of the largest cycling companies out there he is going to start his worldwide takeover. heres a preview.

winter digging

Last year Rhys and I had played with the idea of building a big, lofty trick jump w a huge landing. After lots of scoping out potential areas for a trick jump, I returned to the Island. coming back work on trails there is awesome. Lots of good memories and even just seeing how we "built" lines back in the day gives me a good laugh.
Workin by myself most of the time, its kinda slow going but im making some good progress. Ive built up a landing/ roll in for the jump by about 2 feet , and started clearing and shaping the runout into our jump. Im headin out there today for a few hours, and il try n grab some pics to share.
